The Gaters menu is organised by format, not by meat. The same chicken, steak, lamb, kefta and gyro meat show up as a Grilled Platter, a 5 Star Kabob Plate, a Wrap, a Meat Salad, a Philly and a Burger. So the first decision at lunch is not “what meat” but “what shape”. This guide covers the three formats people order most on a weekday on Mowry Avenue, what each one comes with, and when to pick it.
The three formats at a glance
|
Format |
Built with (per the menu) |
Pick it when |
|
Grilled Platter |
Greek salad, hummus, saffron rice and pita bread; pick any two meats for a combo |
You want a complete, balanced lunch with rice |
|
5 Star Kabob Plate |
Skewered meat with grilled onions and tomatoes on top, plus rice, hummus, Greek salad and fresh pita |
You want the grill flavour and a bigger protein portion |
|
Wrap |
Fresh veggies, a light coat of mayo and soft lavash bread |
You are eating at a desk, in the car, or on the move |
All three can be ordered with chicken; the platter and kabob lists also run to steak, gyro, lamb and kefta.
Grilled Platters: the full lunch
The Grilled Platters section has five options: Chicken Platter, Steak Platter, Gyros Platter, Combo Platter and Chicken Garlic Platter. Every platter is built the same way, with Greek salad, hummus, saffron rice and pita bread, and the menu notes that you can pick any two meats to make it a combo.
What that gives you at lunch is a plate with a protein, a grain, a vegetable and a dip, which is why the Chicken Platter is the default order for anyone who wants to eat properly and still get back to work. The Chicken Garlic Platter is the same plate with garlic-marinated chicken for people who want more flavour on the meat. The Gyros Platter swaps grilled chicken for sliced gyro meat.

Grilled chicken with Greek salad, hummus, saffron rice and pita bread. Pick any two meats to make it a Combo Platter.
5 Star Kabob Plates: skewers with the grill on top
The kabob plates are the grill section: Chicken Kabob, Kefta Kabob, Lamb Kabob, Combo Kabob and Three Combo Kabob. The menu lists each plate as served with a side of rice, hummus, Greek salad and fresh pita bread, with grilled onions and tomatoes on top of the meat.
The difference from a platter is the cooking and the portion. Kabob meat comes off a skewer with char on the edges, and the grilled onions and tomatoes on top are part of the plate rather than an add-on. Choose Chicken Kabob for the familiar order, Kefta Kabob for ground, seasoned meat that is softer and richer, and Lamb Kabob when you want red meat. The Combo Kabob gives you two skewers of different meats; the Three Combo Kabob gives you three.

Wraps: lunch in one hand
The Wraps list covers Chicken Wrap, Steak Wrap, Lamb Wrap, Chicken Garlic Wrap, Combo Wrap, Three Combo Wrap and Mediterranean Gyro. Each is built with fresh veggies, a light coat of mayo and soft lavash bread. The Vegetarian section adds the Falafel Wrap: two falafels with lettuce, tomato, onions, hummus, parsley and tahini sauce in lavash.
A wrap is the right order when you have twenty minutes, when you are driving back to the office along Mowry, or when you want to add a side without turning lunch into a platter. The sides that make sense with a wrap are on the Dips and Side list: Side Order of Seasoned Fries, Side Order of Garlic Fries, or a Hummus with Pita Bread.

Grilled chicken with fresh veggies and a light coat of mayo in soft lavash bread.
The rest of the menu: salads, Phillys, the Chicken Burger
Three other formats are worth knowing:
• Meat Salads — Chicken Salad, Lamb Salad, Steak Salad, Gyro Salad and Three Combo Salad: lettuce, red onions, tomatoes and bell pepper tossed with the meat. The lightest lunch on the menu.
• Philly Steak Sandwiches — Philly Chicken, Philly Steak, Philly Lamb and Three Combo Philly, built with grilled bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, mayo and Swiss cheese on a French roll. The halal Philly is the order that surprises first-time visitors.
• Chicken Burger — chicken shawarma, lettuce, onions, mayo, tomatoes and Swiss cheese.
• Gyros — Chicken Gyros, Chicken Garlic Gyros and Mediterranean Gyros, for the pita-and-sauce version of lunch.
Ordering for a team
For an office lunch, the Catering Services list has packages that scale: the Classic Package (a choice of two meals with trays of saffron rice, tzatziki, Mediterranean salad and pita), the Green Package (falafel, dolma, hummus, baba ghanoush and pita for vegetarians), and the Bento Box, which is one gyro or wrap with a side salad in a single box, which is the easiest way to feed a meeting where everyone wants something different.
Gaters is at 3846 Mowry Ave in Fremont, between Fremont Boulevard and Paseo Padre Parkway, a short drive from the Fremont BART station and the Washington Hospital area. Pickup and delivery are both on the restaurant’s own ordering page; ordering direct sends the whole ticket to the kitchen rather than through a delivery app.
